Is it homophobic?

The sexuality of the man recieving the comment is unknown

I remember on the boondocks, Thugnificient told Grandad to and I quote, "eat a whole sack of baby dicks"

I mean yeah but it was so common when I was growing up I don't even bat a eye if hear it. As someone who has sucked dick.

The entire idea behind it is that it's demeaning for a man to do such an act to another man. So yes, there is a bit with it in most cases. But in general, crude language like that is fucked up and meant to be because it's trying to get a rise out of the target.

Probably, but you can just substitute it with "suck your own dick" and it goes back to working fine

Well, not anything one should admit to or be caught doing. But in private there were more than a few charm school books for girls on proper etiquette. "Ask if he would like some throat. Be sure to allow him to finish in your mouth and then drink the gift you were given down in one gentle gulp. Thank him afterwards and comment on how good the taste was." And of course the only reason I memorized that tidbit from one such book was because it was basically scorched into my memory forever because I was laughing so hard at the idea of girls in the 1950s being given this book and getting to this section on how to be a classy throat goat.

It was probably simpler and viewed as 'unclean/dirty' cause piss comes from the thing you're sucking.

I don't know If I could deal with that. I'm submissive in the bedroom. But outside the bed I'm hard headed and stubborn as fuck. I might compromise but seldom will I ever outright just forget about what I want and do what the other person wants. I've used it before and hear it a lot and consider it personally as an alternate to go fuck yourself. But recently I've been thinking it is pretty homophobic. You're using a normal sexual act as a bad thing specifically because it's a gay act towards a man. Like I've never heard it said to a woman nor have I heard go eat a vag used as an insult.

I wrote up a post about my thoughts on this and then started to confuse myself and question some of my own thoughts, so mostly I want to listen and see different perspectives here.

One question I have for the thread- is there a difference in whether or not it's homophobic, if a straight man said these one of these two things to another straight man?

"Go suck a dick"
"Suck my dick"

Is there a difference in these two regarding level of whether they are/aren't homophobic? Or do you see them equally not homophobic or equally homophobic?

I've always considered it degrading, but not homophobic, for the same reason.

It's basically an insult of dominance.

It is, but I don't think most people using it are intentionally being homophobic. It's just a "generic insult" to many and they don't think to actually look at why sucking a dick is a bad thing (it isn't!)

Obviously it's homophobic. It only has power as an insult because there's something perceived as "wrong" about a man sucking a dick. If there was nothing "wrong" about it, then it wouldn't be insulting. And it's basically never used against women. It implies that anyone giving a blowjob is in a submissive position, and that men are weak, and therefore not "real" men, if they are in such a position.

I doubt most people who use it really think about what they're saying, but that just means the prejudice is baked deep enough into the culture that people take it for granted.
