I stopped reading it after the whole "anti personnel" story line where Levi fought his old mentor and that crazy guy did some crazy shit with Eren in a cave trying to steal his power or whatever. The whole royal bloodline mythos lost me when it got more and more complex, but man... I've been watching clips from the new season, and holy shit some of the scenes are amazing.

I was just watching Armin nuking the enemy navy and most of the surrounding city with the colossal titan, and the framing of that whole sequence of shots was top notch. Like damn.

Yeah, the plot got kinda confusing, but watching it in anime form made it clearer to me.

I think the biggest problem was that a lot of what was shown was intentionally kinda vague and mysterious, and told in snippets of flashbacks...

But the AoT manga art style is hard to interpret. A lot of characters look very, very similar to each other, and the specifics of the action can be difficult to track. I think I owe it to myself to watch seasons 3 and 4 at some point after it's all the way wrapped up, though, because the anime seems to fix that issue.

The bullshit powers of conveniences introduced in later seasons are still pretty bullshit and stupid even with the origins explained. Still hyped tho

I hated the manga and I read the whole thing. The anime definitely does it far better justice.

I wonder if by going through the whole story in manga I robbed myself of some of the enjoyment. Maybe they can pull up on the ending too. Stranger things have happened.

I still get all the characters mixed up. And yes, the plot is off the rails. It is gorgeous, however. The battle tactics episodes were also fun.

Yeah, the stuff towards the end of season 3 and start of season 4 are amazing.

Can't imagine reading the manga due to what people said above; the art is just way too sketchy and hard to make out what's going on. Choosing to read it over watching the anime is doing yourself a huge disservice. You just need the music and the animation to enjoy some of these moments to their fullest.

I loved season 3 but kind of lost interest in 4. I don't know if I'll go back to watching it or not

It's also very likely that there will be a Part 3 or a movie to finish the manga. Current pace won't come close.

Man, I really don't want a movie. It'd just add to the time we have to wait to get to the ending, and movies always have a longer delay between releasing and getting subs, so that's more time for spoilers to crop up.

Not that a "Final Season Part 2, Part 2" is that enticing either. I think they can just wrap everything up in just 10 or so episodes if they stop going at such a sluggish pace.

For me the story has been great up to the final few chapters. Too many ass pull twists for the sake of 'subverting expectations'.

I read the manga in January and really really enjoyed it. Recently started the anime too
