At 20$ a month is getting pricy. After around 3 years of having the service the price increase by like 50% from what it was. No other streaming service has increased this while most of the their prices never go up either. Neflix's greed is on another level but from what I can see it offers the most content but still at 20 a month now is getting kind of out of hand.

The whole streaming service scene is getting just as bad as cable TV was.

Id sail the seven seas before even considering subscribing to any one of them.

tbh, netflix is worth $60/month considering the amount of content that's available there

But yes, $20 is getting pricey when there are now a dozen other streaming options. You can get Disney, HBO and Apple for the same price as Netflix. And everyone already has Prime streaming bc they subscribe for free shipping.

I'm keeping the sun for some animals but once Stranger Things is done, so is Netflix

You don't really need all these services. You just gotta look up what you care about. For me, Netflix + HBO Max has everything I care about. That's not really that big of a deal.

I havent watched much on there recently. While they have a lot of content, its not content I am interested in. Been watching Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia on Hulu, peacemaker on HBO (and waiting for Our Flag Means Death to start and my kids have been watching stuff on Disney+.

I already stopped Amazon prime in November. Netflix is the next to go.

Apple I think is like 5 or 6

So that's at least 30 a month for all 3 of them

Disney is like 6.99. And hbo is free through our houses internet/cable. I also get Spotify/Hulu as a combo for 9.99. Amazon free through prime. My wife also gets discovery

I see so having Prime gets you a discount with Disney but without Prime it is 10 a month. I get free HBO as well as I mooch off of a buddy's account

More reason to turn off auto renew, and only rejoin when there's plenty to watch. February has been my no Netflix month since nothing I wanted to see was on the schedule, instead just watching more stuff on Hulu and Amazon. When I run out of stuff on those, I can just restart Netflix later when they add something good instead of pointlessly handing Netflix money out of laziness.

While Netflix does churn out a lot of content, at least 70% is only good for background noise, content not specifically worth subscribing for. Might as well be watching anything else on a cheaper service during dead periods.

2009-2010 was Netflix's golden age. It had EVERYTHING from every company.
And then they smelled the profit, and made their own service, with Blackjack and hookers.

I always find something on their to watch but I see your point. I got rid of Disney for that reason though

Why not do a collective sharing strategy among friends/family? One person pays for Netflix/Disney+ and another pays for Hulu/Sling/YoutubeTV, etc. Take advantage of that now before these companies start to restrict the devices you can use as viewing platforms.

I've had Netflix since it was like $8 for DVDs and streaming

If we're keeping it real Netflix and HBO Max are the only streaming services worth paying for so far. The rest of them either have bad UI or not enough shows worth watching

Netflix is expected to produce new content all the time now, which gets expensive.

At the same time, with quantity over quality empathized shows are looking cheaper with more green screens instead of real locations etc.

They're also raking in Oscar nominations like crazy so I suspect people will keep funneling money into them for that content.

I dont have a 4k TV, so Im at $16 now on Netflix. The only other services I pay for are Hulu for $13, and Discovery + for $7.

We get HBO Max free for being AT&T customers and would be paying for Amazon Prime even if they didnt offer streaming, so the streaming with that is just more of an added bonus for us.

Compare that to the $90-100/mo + that we used to spend on cable and its still a way better deal. We pretty consistently find stuff to watch thats on Netflix only, so the $16 is easily justifiable.

I remember back in the days when you had to pay $10-15/mo extra for each premium channel even with a paid cable subscription. I really cant complain about whats available now for the price vs what you used to have to pay for it all.

HBO is cheaper if you lock in a yearly price. Netflix is the only one that doesnt have a discounted yearly subscription.
I paid 12.50 for HBO. I locked in Disney+ at the start for 3 years at a price of $4 a month. I have Apple for free for 3 months from Target...tbh I wont be continuing that beyond.

Your opinion, but there is far less content than there used to be.

Ask your boss for a raise to compensate for the increased cost of Netflix, and tell him you're leaving the company otherwise.

I sometimes feel bad for Netflix (as much as I can for a corporation) because the reason it's been getting worse is because it was too successful for its own good but people seem to direct their hate at them rather than at the services that are spinning off so that you have to pay $10 a month to see the one thing you want to see on a service.

Netflix makes a lot of content sure, but like 70% of it is junk, 20% is "good for background TV while you're having lunch" and the remaining 10% is content I'm actually somewhat invested in, which is not really worth the price tag but it serves my specific need to watch something on the phone while in commute or whatever so I'll probably keep the app for a while until I either move or do another big change with my life.

But I sail the seven seas for pretty much everything else.

$20 isn't bad for the 4 screen option.

It's still $10 though

sure for the DVD quality (480P) it is. I got myself a ballin TV and would like to take advantage of it.

Netflix has nothing but it's own original content that is extremely, extremely hit or miss. All of the stuff I watch is now on Hulu, which is a much better content per price point streaming service. I'm going to try and finish up Supernatural and maybe another show or two and then probably end up cancelling it.
