What about baracha, salsa, flamenco, and merenge?
I mentioned every one of those in a previous post to show how narrow minded that original statement is

Yes, art is an exchange and all that, of course.

But at the same time, I don't think anyone can deny how utterly remarkable it is that African Americans, as an ethnicity, are perhaps singularly the most culturally productive contributors of modern popular music in the West. And I'm using "modern," as in post 19th century.

I can't think of another ethnic minority that rivals the modern popular musical influence of African Americans. I mean, seriously. 13% of the United States population. Relative to the size of their population, they punch extraordinarily high above their weight class in popular culture production.

Black people are basically the golden goose of modern popular music in the West, and that's not shading anyone, that's just not turning a blind eye to the obvious cultural reality.

Imagine posting Dizzee Rascal and not posting Bonkers as an example

I dont think Bonkers is really representative of what grime is, its more of a pop/house track

Almost all modern music borrows elements from black American music.

British rap hiphop sounds better than the american rap we have these days.. Lyrically at least.

LOL, not at all. There is countless great rap songs being cranked out, you just have to look for it. Dont use Billboard as a reflection of what real heads listen to.

I'm being sarcastic.... I think fohstick was agreeing with me being sarcastic

I listed all those genres that clearly didn't originate in black culture as a response to the ridiculous claim that all popular music can be claimed by black culture.

I already answered that question. It sounds like it just makes you uncomfortable so you don't want to talk about it maybe?

Your answer is not something normal everyday people do. It's what the industry does.
