Relatively late owner. Played a lot of Pokemon X, a bit of a few other things, and not much else lol.

Got mine for my birthday/high school graduation present in 2013. Didn't care for one before then but then I wanted to play New Leaf, and it was also in preparation for Pokemon XY.

Nope. Building it around the 3d gimmick which I hate (still never bothered with avatar) and reintroducing region locking after DS was region free? Fuck that

I still am. Haven't played it much lately but it's basically my favorite handheld lol

Same. I figured I wouldnt ever bother with the 3D thing. Not that it matters much I probably put 100 hours into the system in total. Should have gotten a PS Vita.

• Managed to snag a regular black New 3DS from an early Black Friday sale in 2017; if I had gone to sleep like I should have, I would have missed it.

Yep, and I still play several new (new to me) games on it every year.

Have a Super Smash Bros 3ds I recently picked up which looks really nice. I also have 2 new 2DS XLs for the kids. Plus another 3ds which I probably should sell since we dont need it.

i still use mine pretty frequently, either for games or drawing. i wish i could have upgraded to a "new" 3DS before they were discontinued and all online support was gutted, but oh well

Nah my last handheld was the GameBoy Advance SP. I hated the dual screen gimmick of the DS, so I didn't get one. And after I graduated High School, I didn't have a need for handheld gaming anymore anyway.

I have two of them, a N3DSXL and a small N3DS
I recommend the small one, much crisper image due to the screens being smaller

i owned every model of 3ds except for a 2ds and 2ds xl

I owned the ambassador, the XL, and N3DS XL.

I have two New 2DS XLs and I'm fine without 3D.

One for legit 3DS gaming and the other for everything else

I didn't have an interest in most games, so felt getting a handheld for like 2 games made little sense. Then they came out with the new one, and the 2ds which was tempting, then the 2ds xl. By then I was about to because of a surge of interest in 2020.... and then they killed it.

Yup agreed. I remember trying a friend's ocarina of time 3d and was like yeah no thanks. Add to that the fact that most of the series that carried over from ds to 3dds simply weren't as good as their gba/ds counterpart.

The final handheld gen really was the worst. You had Nintendo once again chasing crappy trends from more mature industries like 3d in the film industry and point blank refusing to include a second analog pad. Then you had Sony designing a handheld with 2 functioning analog sticks that feel comfortable to play, and they still insisted on shooting themselves in the foot, as if the lessons of the ps3 smugness debacle didn't even register.

Idk about that one. The 3DS Zelda was better than the DS ones, the Kirby ones arguably were, the Mario games were, the Donkey Kong game was (that was a port admittedly), the Metroid game was...etc
