She was known for rarely making mistakes. And all of a sudden falls a bunch and has the worst performance of her career as two other Russians were in the running to win Gold/Silver.

Seemed like the powers that be told her we already got our Russian Olympic medals you dont need to win anymore. Since if you win two other Russians wouldnt get medals.

More likely is she just buckled under the pressure, dont you think? Got in her head too much and gave herself the yips. Weve seen it happen to plenty of world class athletes over the past couple of years.

I am guessing the pressure from the global spotlight on her illegal PEDs basically destroying her entire legacy got to the 15 year old.

Can we please stop blaming the minor and put the blame squarely on the child sweat shop that is the Russian Olympics program.

Shit reminds me of this promising Russian gymnast of the same age who back in the 70s broke her neck on a maneuver that was already considered dangerous. She warned her coach she didn't feel well enough to do it, but was pressured into doing it anyway. The accident left her a quadriplegic and she eventually died in her early 40s.

That is why I think she threw it. Russian Olympics program already had a Russian as the leader so they didnt need Kamila medal. And told her to take a dive so there was still a medal ceremony.

I doubt it. I think the pressure just caught up to her and she collapsed under it.

I was honestly shocked she did as well in the short program as she did.
