I don't think he is, but from a "this really can't be measured" standpoint. Like how do you define the greatest? It's subjective. Do you base it on pure individual talent? Or how dominant you are against your peers? Because to me, that latter one isn't a good measurement.

Like what if in 2040, every player in the league is Michael Jordan caliber. But then the best player in the league is only slightly better than the rest. Given that, he's probably not going to dominant like MJ did despite being slightly better. I feel like players today are much more talented than MJ's competition. People say MJ would average 50 in today's league. I personally do not think so. One thing that really made MJ standout was that his peers were no where near as athletic as him. He'd still be an absolute beast, but it was easier for him to dominant because they weren't as athletic.

If he played today, he'd still be amazing, but he's not getting two three-peats. Hell, if he was drafted to a different team back then, he probably wouldn't have gotten the 6 rings. He definitely didn't win it by himself. No one does. The team was just perfect for him.

He was the GOAT in that era of the NBA, like Wilt & Lebron were and are the greatest for their eras while playing.

I say yes. And the only players that are in the GOAT discussion IMO are MJ, LeBron, and Kareem.

He's certainly at the top, but I personally tend to think Wilt & Russell have to be in the conversation.

For Russell, he puts everyone else to shame as far as winning goes. Back to back championships in college, a gold medal at the Olympics & then 11 NBA titles. That's way beyond Michael.

For Wilt, his stats are simply mind boggling because he was so incredibly talented. 100 points in a game will never be broken, not even with how offense heavy the league has become in recent years. 50 PPG in a season? No one else is even remote, Jordan's career high at 37.1 is the next highest, behind Wilt's top 4 seasons. Not to mention in the second half of his career he decided he wanted to lead the league in assists & just did it because he could.

People who think it's just between Jordan & LeBron are ridiculous, just like people who used to think it was either Jordan or Kobe.
