I do really want to play Arceus because I prefer open world games (just don't want to play an open world game right now), and I do think I would like it more.

But, I haven't played a mainline game since Gen 3. I have some FOMO with Arceus, but that extends to the rest of the series right now too.

Also, my gf has Shining Pearl. She's not playing it atm, but it'd give us something to do

It's a fun game. Disappointing in a lot of respects if you've played any of the games since the originals, but since you haven't you wouldnt even notice. Go for it.

I thought it was great, not sure why it was getting so much hate when it came out.

The region, its Pokmon, and the overall lore connect really well with Legends Arceus too, so its the perfect game to get back into Pokmon before you start up Arceus.

I got Shining Pearl and it's alright so far. I wish there was Platinum content though.

Just note that some Mystery gift expire on 2/21. It's a Manaphy Egg and some Platinum clothes. So if you want to get it, I'd get it soon and beat the 1st gym so you get access to Mystery gift >_>

Yeah, that's the thing. I've heard criticism of BDSP and SwSh, but I've got nothing to go on comparatively with them for the last 20 years of games, so I don't think I would be affected by some issues as much

I just beat the elite 4 and took some boat to a fight area? the other day so I could start Arceus :]
It was my first time completing gen4, so I was a little surprised at the difficulty ramp between the 8th gym and the region champion (despite all the memes about this)

get before next week and you can still get the free Manaphy egg or Phione. whichever comes first.
