In our last adventure, i used simmering water to cook up the koolaid. It took about 7 hours on the back porch to reach a slushy state. I was using the premixed (no sugar needed) grape flavor

After 1 hour the jug i was using (A 1 gallon ice mountain water bottle) was still pretty hot to the touch.

After 2 it was still warm.

4 hours later and it was pretty cool.

After the cooling and taste test, it was about perfect. Good flavor. Totally dissolved drink mix with minimal shaking required. All was well.

Today I took a different approach. Using some tropical punch premix, i went for a cold filter to see how it would mix.

Using the same jug type, i filled my extra large funnel with ice. I then dumped the powder into the ice to make sure the cubes were fully coated. I then used water that was previously cooled in the fridge to pour over the ice and powder. I made sure to wash all the powder into the jug so the flavor would be right.

I gave it about the same amount of shaking to make sure everything was dissolved before the taste test.

Results: Not nearly as good as my previous hot water method, but the speed was much much faster to get a cold drink. Still some mix at the bottom of the jug and required more shaking to finish the job.

More testing needed. I need to find more blue mix because my baby doesnt like grape or punch and i dont want to drink literal gallons of koolaid. But for 1 dollar to make 2 gallons, the price is right.
