having a loser, degenerate, or deadbeat dad is probably the the number one predictor of whether or not the kid grows up to be a loser or traumatized in some way.

Eh, I'd definitely say you're more likely to have a shittier life if you don't have a father figure, but I'd say I beat those odds. I consider myself successful and I had 0 male role models in my life.

I've also had anecdotal evidence of people who grew up successful without a proper father figure in their life like the CEO of our CPA firm. With that said, yes the odds that a person growing up "successful" if they grow up in a easier environment is higher than a rougher one. Doesn't mean it's impossible, but it just means one has to work harder and get luckier than the other to be "successful".

I honestly wonder if it's the fact that the 2nd parent isn't there, or that the 2nd parent's INCOME isn't there.

Many lacks or opportunity and problems are a financial one.

You know what's weird about it? The household income is cut in half and yet people who love to talk about the importance of traditional family structure don't mention that!

Almost like they are leveraging poverty to push their conservative ideals.

How is it "pushing conservative ideals" when that literally is reality? One parent who has to work full time and make, potentially, half the the money, is never going to be able to fulfill both roles, and give enough attention to their children as two parents do/can. The statistics of not having a father-figure or two parents are all there ...the conclusion is obvious. You're more likely to get into trouble from a single parent household...on average. Exceptions certainly can happen.

Some people just have a weird resentment for traditional family structures.

It's clearly psychological/emotional resentment because it doesn't even have to be "traditional" husband/wife setup. Families with two gay males are also quite good on most metrics for example.

I don't think anybody would argue against two incomes is better for the child than one.

Maybe you want to spend a bit of time considering why you are often getting disagreement.

It's more that people with a stable home life and both parents are probably from a financially secure family and that'd actually be the predictor.
