There's a whole community of people who roleplay having custom car meets where they'll talk over the mic as if they're attending an actual meet, commenting on the cars as if people put actual money and time towards customizing.

RP servers this hardcore usually don't have power weapons outside of special events. Like getting a fucking pistol on an RP server feels like some real life black market shit.

How is there literal gun control on these servers? Can't you just walk into a store and buy one or find it in a secret location like the other games? I haven't played GTAV before, but I'm just going off older game logic

its all custom scripts, stuff like ammunation is disabled. people have inventories, and you can transfer stuff between each other with chat commands (or an actual custom UI on more sophisticated servers).

so like, you'd have to find a gun dealer (usually through in game ads, or through criminal RP associates), meet somewhere, and /pay the dealer the agreed money. Dealer at that point can try fuck you over or /give you your gun. Same things with drugs which give buffs/debuffs/addiction stats. And vehicle deeds/keys too.

Honestly sounds pretty standard for a GTA RP. Some people take it weirdly seriously.

If they aren't disabled entirely, A lot of servers make you have to earn a weapon license, which usually is something you have to save up for, before you can buy one. So not everyone is armed.

They sometimes make you have to do a drivers test too.

Yes, it's some anxiety inducing shit >_> Seeing a cop car on RP servers gives that same sense of false guilt and dread as getting followed by one IRL lmfao. There are even speed limits.

Though to be fair, its a niche people sign up for. If you want the chaos, normal GTA has plenty.

There are groups that act like they're motorcycle clubs. There's this whole patch ripping system and other rules apparently. Some take it very seriously.

Yes.

Though most players don't.

The few servers I played on, didn't always have cops online, so I would pretty much always drive as reckless as I do in regular GTA.

In this case, just let people enjoy things. It's pretty awesome the game can even be bent in this regard and R* just sits back and does nothing for denying the integrity of their shitty online experience.

I watch the gang gta servers on twitch they're pretty hilarious I can see why gta got so popular with these mods

The server I main is closed to registration at the moment because Twitch has made the mode EXTREMELY popular resulting in a boom of sign ups and a lot of people have the mindset of a few ITT who just want to mess with us geeks lol.

But you need to like, submit a character background, pass a pretty difficult quiz on proper RP etiquette, then have a discord interview with the staff once that is approved. That way there are zero greifers and its a really nice environment. Still get your ass rolled because crime RP is the most popular, but at least its fun for both parties.

Sounds like the one I played on, though there wasn't an interview and the quiz probably wasn't as difficult.

I don't see how that's any weirder than any RP in general. I mean, the whole scene doesn't appeal to me in general, but I don't see anything especially bad about this particular example?

Right? To me it seems like exactly the kind of RP there'd be. The game heavily features cars and customization. It...makes sense.

I first stumbled upon a RP server. About a month and a half ago on twitch. It blew my mind that this sort of thing existed. I tune into it sometimes when I'm eating. Its pretty far out. Especially with how seriously people are on it.
