Which Musk fan boys are signing up for these trials?
I imagine the chip requires a baseline of intelligence beforehand. They don't qualify.

Not being as bad as animal rights activist claim doesn't mean it's not still awful. Yours is the same kind of spin meat producers put on their inherently cruel processes. You shift the focus to attempts to make the best of a bad situation and (in order to?) downplay that it's still a bad situation for the animals. It's not commendable to treat animals nicely in between mistreating them.

"It bad" isn't a nuanced or useful take on bioethics. The question is whether the potential good outweighs the harm, and that everything has been done to make that equation as bloated on one side as possible (max good, min harm).

I don't think nuanced takes on bioethics are nearly as reassuring to the animals being tortured as they are to the humans doing the torturing. This is just theater for humans.

I could blindly appeal to emotion too and talk about little sally who died of brain cancer because we didn't do the research.

But that would just be silly and dishonest, just like you're being.

That would be apt if I were trying to tell you not to do the work or standing in the way of your progress. I'm not. I wasn't even talking to you in the first place and you got extremely defensive for no reason.

Maybe don't jump into a topic you're not willing to discuss like an adult. Shit's not inconsquential, and doing little drive-by insults to get a laugh and cheer makes everyone else's job harder.

....this is news? Without animal testing, we wouldn't have many of the medical advancements that we have now, including...

The covid vaccine.

I entertained your paint-by-numbers apologia more than you deserved, honestly. You just can't handle having your worldview challenged, even in the slightest way. You see criticism where there is none and try to pick fights for no reason.

It's actually kind of disappointing that you're behaving this way because I know people who do VNS work at a university I used to live by and they're really cool people. Many of them are actually vegan outside of their work precisely because of the work they've done with animals.

They didn't mince words or regurgitate crap that sounds like it came from a beef lobbyist. They see it for what it is and it's not a big deal to talk about it like that. They're a big part of why I no longer have animal research as one of my hills to die on because I do very much respect the endeavor. Good thing I had the guidance of sensible, ethically consistent people like them instead of being molded by interactions with hostile, fragile crybabies.
