There is no regulation on what misinformation people can pass off on youtube as actual truth. There exist many people who have mastered the art of appearing to be an expert in the field they are talking about but really don't have the proper accreditation or are using the platform to further their own ventures.

Is this an issue that needs to be addressed or is youtube fine in its current form?

Somewhere in between. The problem is the sheer volume of data being uploaded every hour exceeds humanity's capacity to manually vet all of it. That's both why companies being fined for not removing stuff fast enough are investing in AI and why flagging systems are so badly abused.

Had to change the belt in my KIA.

Unlike my old Explorer where I had changed belts, pumps, tensioner and fan with ease at various times.

KIA doesn't make this easy.

Looked up a video and some dudes showed how easy it was.

First remove the engine, put belt on, replace engine.

I was like WTF and just struggled doing it the old fashioned way.

Youtube obviously has to have some form of regulation, but as sonicfan said, its virtually impossible to effectively vet the volume of content being posted. At the end of the day, we have to hold some degree of responsibility for the people who takes such misinformation and unquestionably believes it as factual.

Or things we all use at some point or another, like taxes, nutrition, fitness, and general troubleshooting for stuff like plumbing, electric, etc.

We just need to be teaching students how to identify misinformation and research for additional reliable sources early on in school.
