Dude is the freaking BROTHER of Goku. There's so much that could have been done with him. The franchise gives this man no respect and no chance to grow as a character. Kinda crazy considering he brought about one of the biggest twists of the series

Yea I agree. It's kinda insane that he just got thrown away. I read a fanfic once that was an alternate version dbz where Raditz doesn't die. It went up to the fight with Frieza I think. Raditz basically replaced Vegeta's role

I kinda wish that was the canon story. Vegeta is cool but Raditz should have gotten the role instead

What would they have done with him? Have him join the hero team like every other villain that stuck around, and add yet another super saiyan to the cast?

If anything, not giving him special treatment just for being related to the MC was the most interesting choice they made with him.

I'm just now realizing Raditz looks a lot more like Vegeta than Goku. Odd that I only just noticed lol.

What if Vegeta stayed evil. Then would it be ok? Imagine just swapping Radtiz and Vegeta's story arcs. Let Vegeta die in the Sayian Saga while Raditz survives

If they're not named Goku or Vegeta, then nothing interesting gets done with them. Look how much of a goober Gohan is.

I, too, am now imagining a version of DBZ where Vegeta and Raditz's roles got swapped. It'd be very interesting to see more of Raditz and how he'd develop. Good ol' Uncle Raditz.

Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 had a secret unlockable story about Raditz. You get it by defeating Raditz in the very first Story Mode fight, which you aren't required or expected to win in order to progress, but if you do then you get the story as a reward.

Tl;dr: Raditz takes more damage than normal during his first encounter with Piccolo (plus a malfunctioning Saibamen explosion) and gets amnesia. The story plays out differently than normal from there, and deals with Raditz's returning memories and his Saiyan nature conflicting with the peaceful nature he's taught by Goku.

To be fair there were limits to how often they could be used. IIRC they could only be revived once originally.

But then they worked around it by having the Namek Dragon Balls(with less restrictions) be a thing. Then just said fuck it with restrictions in general when they had Dende make new ones.

They should've left Frieza dead and brought Raditz back instead.
