Since they don't manufacture new-gen wired Xbox 360 controllers (best controller) anymore and I have PS4 controllers, I've been using a PS4 controller to play games on my PC. I mainly play fighting games, and holy hell is the PS4 dpad weird. I've never in my entire life have had this much trouble performing quarter circles. I've been playing fighting games competitively since 2008, have literally won tournaments (nothing impressive tho), and I've never had as inconsistent inputs as I have on this dpad. (though to be fair, the old-gen 360 controller dpads were even worse, thankfully the analog stick was good)

Who knows, maybe the particular muscle memory embedded into my hands learned a different way than what the PS4 dpad is like, but I just find it very strange that I'm this inconsistent with it. In the end I just have to get used to it, but man I've never been more frustrated at my controller.

But honestly, the Switch Pro Controller is god tier.

I agree. I bought garbage pad for 5usd and playing on PC for GGACR my inputs are way better. Im talking about those pads that have on sphere shaped button

I think your D-pad sucks.

The down press on it is sensitive. I had to always press up slightly doing quarter circles on it to make it not stick on the down-back input.

But I didn't put up with it for long and just bought a Wii U Pro adapter. DS4 sucks in every possible way

Yeah I love the Switch pro controller. I do kind of wish the triggers were pressure sensitive instead of just buttons, and the natural bluetooth connection to the PC was a little buggy when I tried it way back, but on Switch games itself, it feels great. I'd use one for gaming if it worked flawlessly with PC.

I tried another controller and had the same issues overall. Granted, the way it was off was different, but it was still off.

Maybe I'll do the same. With the PS4 Dpad, I feel like I literally have to hit every angle on the quarter circle otherwise it simply wont work, whereas on other dpads, it's more lenient, I can just roll my thumb and be confident I'm doing it right.

Even so, a dpad isn't the only thing that makes a controller good or not. It looks like everything else is either mediocre or bad enough where I don't feel like buying it.
