Was $119/year before. Ive been thinking about not renewing mine, but this definitely sealed the deal. Bye bye Amazon Prime! Honestly cancelling it will save me money from buying tons of shit I dont truly even need.

Still worth it, because I'm not paying shipping charges every 3 weeks for all the paper goods I have delivered to my house.

Plus I'll need it in 2 years when Thursday Night Football is Prime exclusive.

I can't believe how much they charge for Prime in the US.

It's so much cheaper in Canada it's laughable, when if anything it should be the opposite.

I virtually never order from Amazon. When I do, I get free standard shipping and my stuff usually arrives in 2 to 3 days anyway

Meh. If I was in the lower 48 I'd probably have dropped it by now, but living in Alaska it's still going to be worth it. We don't get many good free/cheap shipping options and plenty of things are a lot cheaper than buying in-store.

I can get a case of Monster energy drinks for $32.

Cheapest I can find by me is $40.

So $8 savings every 3 weeks is $139.66

So I break even just on that alone.

I still somehow get the student discount, so I'll keep it till they kick me off that.

I can't believe it's that expensive. I thought it was $50 a year

How fast is Prime shipping to where you live in Alaska? I'm assuming next day/two day probably isn't a thing there, unless Anchorage has a warehouse or something.

Same as others have said, i'd be paying five times as much per year for shipping for as much as I have stuff delivered. Large store like Walmart are over 20 miles from here, and a lot of the time I have no interest in driving off the mountain when I can just order online.

I don't have Prime.. doesn't seem worth it even at the old price unless you're ordering less than $25 frequently.

Like others have said.. I just select Free Standard and it comes in 2-3 days almost always anyways.

If your buying enough goods, then any subscription service can be worth it. Hell, if I was raising a family of four Costco would be worth it.

Theres a bunch of other stuff we order via Subscribe & Save, so I guess we can do standard shipping on all of it.

But we also actually use the prime video/music stuff, so we feel the money for Prime is worth it.

Will this mean amazon will ship my items in better packages or continue to throw them in those cheap plastic envelopes so my stuff gets all smashed and damaged on the way to me. Amazon is the biggest company around yet they can not deliver items in decent packages like some random Joe off eBay has better packaging than Amazon. I gave up on Amazon once I started to get damaged good due to their poor shipping practices.

a family of one would be worth it. based on the value of savings out of a membership. myself i save about 120-240$ per year minus my 60$ membership fee by buying PSN cards. there's other things i buy.

as far as the prime going to 139$. it's how much one would spend on shipping in the first place over a year. (only worth if spending more on the shipping) than the actual cost per month.

You also have to add in the value of using it as a streaming service.

Prime video sucks ass. Most of it is just advertising for add ones like HBO or showtime or additional paid content

plus their original shows are horrible

The warehouse workers got raises though.

Plus, the insane amount of terrible "so bad they're good" campy horror flicks make it worth the $139 alone.

I just checked and it's 4900 yen a year here in Japan. I wonder if it's because Japan is so small the free shipping doesn't cost them much.

i never needed to pay for shipping because amazon keeps offering those free prime trials

I never had it to begin with. I just dont order from amazon enough to make it worth it. I support small businesses.

as far as the prime going to 139$. it's how much one would spend on shipping in the first place over a year. (only worth if spending more on the shipping) than the actual cost per month.

Depending on how close the warehouse is, it could be worth it for the gas. For me, its at least 25 cents cheaper per gallon than other places.

I pay for $120 executive membership and got a check back for $250 last year so I spend a ton at Costco (do the bulk of my grocery shopping there).
