i can't believe it's almost 2 years old already. they really killed it on every front

i'm primarily a pc player and got it on switch just so i could suffer or whatever and it's still awesome

It's nearly impossible to go back to other shooters after mastering the movement of Doom Eternal. Feels like you're moving through molasses by comparison

i think the super gore nest - arc complex - mars core is my favorite stretch of the base game. or maybe even starting back from cultist base. i never really liked taras nabad or urdak but that might be because i suck ass

I never really liked halo or BF but I loved the older CoDs... but yeah, absolute stomp

It's not as good as 2016

it shocked me how good it was. in retrospect i should have known completely based on how many losers it was filtering

It's absolutely amazing. While I didn't care for a number of story elements, I'd still put it in my top 10 games. Maybe even top 5.

Wait until you play the dlc, it gets even harder and better!

Playing right now. I've gotten through the first two missions so far

Eternals core gameplay loop is too much of a chore to play, especially on console since you can't cycle through weapons as fast as pc players can. It was a one and done campaign playthrough for me.

Eternal is easier than 2016. Eternal is a DOOM game in name only

2016 and Eternal are legitimately some of the best FPS games released in years. I know there's heavy debate over which is better, but I like that both have distinct gameplay styles. It would've been really easy to make Eternal "2016 but more", and I'm glad they didn't.

Yes Eternals campaign is god tier. 2016 is amazing too.

Eh, not really. I beat the entirety of Doom Eternal on Ultra Violence and am currently doing the Master Levels, but 2016 is the game I'm more likely to go back and do a fresh playthrough of. Eternal is an absolute blast, but 2016 captures more of the OG Doom essence

There's perfectly valid arguments for either one being better, it's ultimately just a preference thing

Doom Eternal is the only video game in my entire gaming life--ever since all the way back to the OG Super Mario Brothers--where I've had to turn the difficulty down from medium to easy. Never done that on any other game.

I agree. I think it might be mostly console players who liked 2016 better because I tried Eternal with a controller just for giggles (Ultraviolence difficulty I believe) and it was FUCKED, I can't even imagine how Nightmare would be. Just way too fast of a game for analog aiming

That's not an unfair idea.

Played both on Series X, I greatly prefer 2016 for presentation and whatnot, and while I'm aware that Eternal is a better game I just can't adapt.

My only criticism is if you leave it for a few months and go back its stupid hard. You really need to be in a groove.

Eternal is bat shit insane. On console I can't play on a difficulty harder than Ultra Violence due to the controls, lol. But it's fun as fuck.

another thing i definitely don't miss from 2016 is the rune trials lol
