Spell only made people forget that Peter Parker is spiderman but shouldn't erase all physical evidence such as the news video clips, every written document, photos etc. It would literally make physical things disappear like newspapers.

I suppose we have to accept this plot hole for the movie to finish but its still annoying for me.

I think the spell was just for mass memory wipe but not to delete or alter actual physical things.

It would be too complex for the magic to go through every bit of the Internet like twitter posts, every video youtubers made and erase them.

Magic is magic but it still has to have rules. Or it'll just turn in to a pile of mess like in wonder woman 2.

Basically, Strange changed the timeline into a world were nobody knows who Peter Parker is. How's that? He didn't use the time stone, which is why really uncontrollable things began to happen when the spell got altered. It's similar to, if not actually drawing on, the dark dimension magic from the first movie. The bad guys were able to use that magic to alter the real world similarly to how the mirror dimension works. Doctor Strange uses his knowledge to create a sweeping effect across the universe, and this reckless sort of behavior is likely exactly what will land him in hot water, neigh, a world of shit... in the upcoming Multiverse of Madness.

The most plausible answer I got was that as you mention nothing was deleted but that MJ or Ned pretty much just saw a picture of a random guy whose name they dont know on their phones. Which I'd argue would at least make them wonder who he is and investigate him. This theory also doesnt hold out as Peter went to see them so they would at least have realized "hey, thats the creepy dude from out photos".

Consider that the spell brought in people from not just different universes of the MCU.... but an entirely different film franchise. Two of them. It would be like Batman showing up........ As a cartoon.

To answer, there are hundreds of way this could work.

simplest way is magic made it whenever people see something like a newspaper saying Peter Parker is Spiderman their brain just glosses over the image and doesnt retain the information.

or it just erased the media. Or it changed the headline to something else
