I bought an expensive ass 65 LG C1. Gorgeous tv. But the first one they sent was dead on arrival. Didnt power on. They sent me a replacement, but getting the original tv back was a pain in the ass. Took months.

I guess they just got the broken tv back today, and I got an email saying they were processing the refund for the original $1800 I paid since they got the tv back.

Like, surely a company this big realizes they sent a replacement and dont need to refund me right? Should I say something? Honestly getting the broken tv back was a HUGE pain in the ass and a big ordeal. Maybe I just wont say anything and enjoy the free tv

I guess just don't buy anything you normally wouldn't buy. They probably won't review it if you don't bring it up. Amazon customer service is a disorganized mess and they refund like it's nothing. It was probably someone else who proceeded each part.

I suppose it could happen but it seems unlikely.

A while back I ordered a Traeger pellet smoker grill and it got "lost" and they replaced it. I got both delivered on the same day. I couldn't make them take it back, they said keep it, recycle it or donate it. I said the thing was $600 and they didn't care. I offered to ship it back and they said no. I legit tried to make it right but wound up with 2 grills in the end, charged for one.

Thats fucking great. Did you keep both, or sell one? Those are nice grills, my dad has one.

Could have been a mistake that will be corrected soon. If it actually went through and you were fine with never using amazon again I would say keep it. Otherwise I'm sure it'd come up at some point

They do this all the time with actual products but a refund is definitely a mistake

Lol how would it come up? Im probably just gonna say nothing. Theyre the ones who made the error. Its not my fault theyre inept.

About a year ago, I ordered a new lamp for my apartment.

UPS delivered the lamp to someone else's apartment, took an extremely blurry picture of the door, and said it was delivered.

Amazon sent a 2nd one. I found the 1st one. No one lived at that other apartment at the time.

I've had varying degrees of success with trying to give Amazon their money back. Sometimes, they'll go right in and take it after an authorization. Other times, I've authorized it but they never took it out. So I just spent it after 6 months.

that happened to me once with like $100 worth of groceries from Whole Foods delivered via Amazon. They delivered to the wrong door on the opposite side of my complex. The dude living their dropped it all off later that day after I called Amazon and complained. I had so much food and it was amazing

Any number of ways. One is that a refund is tied to your account and if you ever need to return another item it comes up in your history

I think someone would have to look specifically into each the purchase and refund in depth. Either way they don't like to take back money after making a mistake. Just don't make a habit of refunding large purchases or buying expensive items in high volumes in a short period of time.

In the UK this would be considered Fraud, which is quite literally insane.
I think it doesn't even hit the threshold for Civil Fraud in most American states.
In the UK - it's even fraud if I walk to self-service checkouts and the Television costs 40 ($50), instead of 400 ($500) - and I knowingly buy it.

oh Ill never make a large purchase through Amazon again. Getting that tv returned was such a huge pain in the ass

I think to Amazon it's just faster and cheaper to replace the item and right it off. Replace it improves their customer satification and help bring back customers.

Nah it's actually as simple as typing a name which is done everytime the warehouse recieves a returned item. If they suspect something it gets escalated to someone who looks into it closer

I think Amazon accounts for losses like these. There are are tons of random delivery errors.

If you report it their fraud detection service might rate you as a more honest person making you less likely to get banned from amazon. People have gotten banned from amazon through no fault of their own (like reporting too many items as not delivered and amazon thought they were lying) so anything you can do to avoid being banned is a good thing

Lol you're right that amazon will seemingly ban at the drop of a hat but returning an item/payment will in no way prevent it or make you seem more trustworthy
