In practice, more representation is better in government. In a bicameral legislature, one house must be less representative of the citizens than the other.

The US federal government should just be the House of Representative, or basically a Parliament

the senate is a remnant of the old, decentralized, structure of the united states, where the real power was in the states, and not DC. once that shifted, the purpose of the senate shifted, too. where before, its purpose was to represent the interests of the states, now the states don't really have a need to be represented. so now its only real purpose is to create an artificial deadlock as often as possible, so that no one can ever get anything done long enough to matter and the people who benefit with things the way they are can keep on doing what they're doing.

My bigger issue against it is that there should be three senators per state, so as to allow each state to have a senatorial election every cycle. Having them 2 out of 3 times guarantees this odd dumb election where a state has no say on the senates composition.

If you want that you should basically have the EU where the states are countries.
