I know it's to beat their dumbass system and I don't fuckin care. It's fucking dumb. I'm in the goddamn drive thru I will not move from this motherfucking window until you give me my food.

Today, I go to BK, pay, and they immediately tell me to go park on the literal other side of the building, not even in the front. No one was behind me. Minutes later, another guy comes to the drivethru and they make him pull up into the front immediately. 3 minute after that 1 employee walks out with BOTH of our bags of food.

I'm like motherfucker why couldn't i sit at the goddamn window.

You sound insufferable.

Its probably more because they have no freaking cooks. Making you pull forward practically guarantees your money vs sitting in line all day and deciding to leave after running out of patience

That's dumb to park you if there really wasn't anyone else in line. But it's more of an inconvenience for them than it is for you. Really not worth being mad over it.

Drive thrus have a timer that tracks how long each customer spent at each portion of the process. Sitting at the window waiting for your food makes you look bad to head office,

Yeah, I can see them pulling you around if your order is bigger than other people behind you. But if the lead manager can't see that the drive-thru time is high because of being short-staffed then that's their problem.

On the other hand...being pulled around to the front isn't nearly as much of an inconvenience as TC's making it out to be.

I specified, I didn't have to pull to the front today, I had to pull around to the other side of the building, opposite the drive-thru windows. This is actually a huge inconvenience in some parking lots. This building only had a single lane to loop around the back of the building, so I could no go out the place where the drive-thru is supposed to exit.

Yes, it's the timer thing. I don't even blame the employees, it's the corporation's fault for putting pressure on the franchises in stupid ways and having (probably) unrealistic expectations.

How is that not infuriating? Why can't I be upset about that? Why should I be even slightly inconvenienced for the sake of some Burger King board member's quarterly PowerPoint presentation?

It's also frustrating that the companies are dumb enough to both demand this metric and then fail to ensure that the data gathered is in any way useful.

Nothing useful is added, only bad, yet still people defend it.

read my post; Im not mad about the time that the food takes. The food gets here when it gets here, I just don't want to leave the window until I have my food unless it's a special case order or something weird.

So at the window you.... stay in your car and wait for your food. If they ask you to pull around you.... stay in your car and wait for your food. I can see why someone would rage over this.

Okay the difference is that your car is now pointed in the wrong direction as drive-thrus were designed to exit from the window lane.

Yes, it's a small inconvenience for me.

It's also a huge inconvenience for the employees because they have to min-max this shit at what should be a relatively chill job. If they are making customers do this, you KNOW they are catching shit for customers waiting at the window too long. Really imagine that some dumbfuck manager starts giving you shit at your BK job about the customer window average behind 55 seconds instead of 45. I'm honestly surprised the employees don't just burn the building down right at that moment.

And it literally accomplishes nothing. The data gathered isn't even accurate, and customer wait time is marginally increased, actually having the direct opposite effect from what was intended by the soulless corporate overlords.

So 0% good and 100% bad means that even though it's a small thing, there is literally no downside to (as a society) stopping doing this. Even the evil overlords don't like it, but it's happening.

It's an interesting study in emergent phenomenon; this shit happens, but it's just the net result of 3 different vectors, none of which want the end results. Nothing good is produced, but it likely won't stop (if not increase in frequency).

This is a good point. They are most likely understaffed, and corporate/management is basically making them take on more orders than they are likely equipped for. So yeah, it is kind of BS that they are"speeding up" the line in this way.

I have zero problem with the employees asking me to park after a few minutes because the guy after me's order is ready. that make total sense. that is also almost never the case.

Also, the double-window system does exactly the same thing, but it's all in a line and you don't have to put you car into park. The companies are greedy, so they closed the first window and fired that employee about 15 years ago.

Ultimately, every order should take a (relatively) similar amount of time at a fast-food place.
