I'm not sure it's a coherent criticism, but how can vegans be okay with people working in factories if one of their issues is the factory conditions we put animals in?

I don't think hypocrisy completely invalidates something, but still... It seems unfair to want to liberate a chicken from a factory but not a person. Idk.

I guess I just see this global system built on exploitation and think it's not too different from the meat industry. Raising people for one single purpose... To work, or exist for someone else's benefit.

Maybe if I stopped eating meat I would stop having a drive to think I need to hunt

That energy should be directed more towards say people that cut down forests causing hundreds of thousands, hell even millions of animals to lose their habitats and food sources.

Same thing with polluting oceans, lakes, rivers, etc. Which affects animals as well, and potentially us if we consume it.

But no, it's only the people that enjoy a cheeseburger or fried chicken, maybe some sausage that is the problem.

had nicotine not numbed me to the guilt of eating meat i probably would have drifted towards at least pescetarianism by now

sure but there are an absurd number of things that the morally sound thing to do would be to avoid; acting holier-than-thou about meat while using basically any electronics, buying any nestle products, ordering from Amazon, using anything that burns fossil fuels, etc is asinine

as humans we navigate these choices every day and youre not better than someone for avoiding one specific evil
