Don't care much for my family.

No one just IS happy, people put their time and effort into participating in things that improve their outlook on life and as a result become more resilient against unhappiness.

It's probably because you have no reason for being, and, if you're like most Americans, are addicted to entertainment. The secret to happiness is to always have something that you're improving upon or working towards. A job typically does not fit that description, especially since the goals you might want to obtain in relation to it are ultimately in the control of someone other than yourself. And let's face it, most jobs are boring crap that people wouldn't do if they had a choice to do something else. The only solution for one in said situation is to spend time outside of work working towards improving on something or developing some sort of skill that they genuinely care about rather than spending all their time on entertainment that does nothing for them.

In my case it was more just me being a lazy depressed piece of shit than anything actually causing me to take so long to graduate so it's hard to give myself any understanding for that.

I don't really care about any non job related skills. Don't know what options I'd even have for that that would be even mildly interesting.

Good health would just make me live longer which sounds fucking awful. If job security is the best I have going for me in life then fuck that's sad. Relationships are also unattainable for me.

Probably because you either make no effort, little effort, or big effort but give up after you don't see immediate results.

Gotta be patient with yourself.

You probably can be happy, but you could be blocking yourself from being happy. Maybe you dont feel you deserve to be happy? Or maybe you just block your ability to be happy mentally?

First figure out what if anything makes you even a little happy, and start with that. Simple joy is better than no joy imo.

Oh so you're just depressed. They make medicine to fix that right up. It won't solve your problems right away but it'll help with that "Quick to Give Up" attitude you got there.

Sometimes work is helpful because you have productive activity to set yourself to. It can either help as a distraction, or give you a fulfilling feeling by productivity, or both. Meanwhile, home time forces you to face an empty personal life.
One possible solution there would be spending time on a hobby. A real hobby, not posting on gamefaqs, which is awful. Something you have to apply yourself to. Woodworking, small electronics repair, learning a language, playing music, etc

People suffer more mentally than in reality
Happiness doesn't pop out of a treasure chest that you one day find, you need to make it happen everyday no matter what. That's what Jocko's "good" thing is about. Flip the context, change everything to your advantage.

I can't say I really care for any of those options... Maaaaaybe music but I don't have the time or motivation to take lessons
