Like, make a game with 360 graphics on Series X hardware and use the leftover processing power and memory or whatever to make shit intricate.

Agreed. Something like runescape already had pretty good graphics. Not much more needed really. Can always add a text box to let players know what happens in stuff that hard to visually make too.

Uncharted 2 looks like ass compared to 4. The same goes for the last of us and its sequel. Continuous improvement is a good thing

Basic 3d visuals + Textbox that clarifies the stuff that going on >>>>> Photorealistic Graphics

It hard for me to concentrate when graphics look too good. Like rdr2 is good looking and was hard for me to concentrate. Had to sit closer to screen and was uncomfy. I played pc version at 4k and mostly high settings very briefly (up to when the snow melted).

I used to think unironically caring about graphics was just a thing people on the internet did. But then I hung out with actual people and some gamers seeing their setup in real life, and they really are graphics obsessed. It made me sad. I'd be fine with like, sock puppet level graphics as long as the game is fun and gives me temporary escape from my reality. But that's just me.

no loading times
decent facial expession
decent shadows and reflections

idk basically all the artstyle has to match in some way

even inanimate objects express themselves
