The twist that Atreus is this universe's version of Loki is something I did not expect lol

Amazing game

Caught me off guard too.

But it's interesting. Hopefully GoW2 answers some of the questions the first left. Like who called the serpent when Kratos and Atreus were away?

My personal theory is that Atreus ends up being the god of language or stories. Something along those lines.

I doubt he'd try to speak to the serpent, Baldur isn't the talking type as we see. Especially since it doesn't really talk in a language he speaks lol.

That "twist" ruined my perception of the game. Such an idiotic ass-pull with no thought for the mythology.

Atreus from the future was probably the one who called for Jormungandr, tbh, or something like that

One of the running theories is that a time-traveling Atreus/Loki from the future blew the horn.

Yeah, but he was looking for Kratos and none of the gods seem to know shit about giants. I can imagine he calls him, realizes he can't understand a fuckin' thing he says, and then just leaves.

In the mythology Loki's father is a giant, not his mother, and he has at least two brothers. Loki is also the father of Jormungandr, Hel, and Fenrir. So on and so forth. There's tons of mythology they completely fucked up by making Atreus into Loki.

Like there was a lot they changed or just completely ignored throughout the game but the ass-pull at the end just ruined the entire thing for me.

Fun game, but the story is awful.

Im only vaguely familiar with the other games as well but I think Kratos replacing Ares as the Greek GoW and subsequently murdering every Greek god is playing a bit more loosely with the mythology than Atreus being Loki. :P

Fair enough. God of War had been mythological self-insert fanfic for 13 years before this one came out.

The director of the game was asked what was going on with him and he said "everything will be made clear soon".

Dude, God of War has been playing loose with both Greek and Norse mythology from the literal very beginning. It's not meant to be a 1:1 adaptation of mythology.

The mythology is irrelevant. If you care about accuracy your gonna have a bad time.
