The lead in to Shadowbringers' final boss is probably an example of a perfect scene.

FFXIV Endwalker final boss fight, when the music turns to your theme because your friends prayers all kicked in. Both as a FFIV nod and reversal on the main threat of the series, it had me tear up instantly.

Edge lashing out at Rubicante after his parents die

FF5

Galufs sacrifice

FF6

Edgar & Sabin flipping the coin

When Edgar reveals himself in the basement of Figaro in the world of ruin, just before the boss fight

In the world of ruin, when you first get the Falcon, fly it out from underwater, and the music changes to Searching for Friends for the first time

FF7

Sephiroth walking through the flames. A cliche moment, but I still love it.

During the Cloud remembers who he is part, when Cloud remembers himself as a shadowed figure, running into the reactor to stop Sephiroth

FF9

The ending. Its my favorite ending in video games.

FF10

Animas first appearance

FF 6:
  • Sabin's Scenario - this segment always stood out as a particularly fun, picaresque slice of adventure in comparison to the rest of the game
  • The Opera House
  • Gau meeting his father
  • The Ending Sequence - still to me the golden standard by against which I measure all other video game endings, and none have surpassed

FF 7:
  • the brief segment of the game where Cid is the de facto leader.

FF 8:
  • Balamb Garden takes Flight - Call me crazy, but this is part of the reason why I loved FF games as a kid: to find our heroes at their lowest point, out of options and only seconds away from annihilation, and then have the most magical, completely implausible (yet somehow believable in hindsight) solution materialize itself at the last second to save the day. It was the original 'They fly now?!' but actually fun and imaginative. Also, I realized on a repeat playthrough that you get a short extra FMV scene during this segment if you have Rinoa in the party.

FF 9:
  • Assault of the Silver Dragons - this might genuinely be my favorite FMV cutscene in the franchise, rivaled only by 'The Red Carpet' in FF 10. The music timed to the reveal of the airship fleet rising out of the mist gets me every time, and it was a great 'all your friends are here to help' moment that every good RPG with a wide cast of colorful secondary characters should have. And it also holds a special place in my heart because it delivered exactly what I wanted out of the game: I remember getting towards the end of my first playthrough and often thinking to myself 'damn, are we really going to go through this entire airship-heavy game without any FMV large-scale airship battle?!'

FF 10:
  • the segment of the game that spans from arriving at the Al Bhed Home > the reveal concerning Yuna's pilgrimage > the airship escape > the battle with Evrae > the Red Carpet > I Can Fly. Sadly the pace comes screeching to a halt with the Bevelle Temple, otherwise the good vibes would've kept going unbroken all the way up until Sudeki Da Ne.

Funny, I remember there being significantly more than 8 scenes in each game. Maybe half of the memorable scenes.

FF6 - The towns, especially for the music
FF7 - Northern Continent. It's really eerie with the city of the ancients, and really cozy at icicle inn
FF12 - Balfonheim Port / Cerobi Steppe / Tchita Uplands / Phon Coast / Archades (Basically the entire Archadia region)
