Rolling from when the cop clocks in to when the cop clocks out.

Illegal to deliberately remove while on the job.

Footage sent directly to vetted third-party agency to prevent tampering.

The people who turn them off should be punished as well since that is almost always when shady shit happens.

How about big brother cameras everywhere. People say it's an invasion of privacy, but is it really when the cameras are in public areas? Make the video feed accessible to all citizens so it's equal.

Anyone who thinks mandatory body cams will fix anything has spent too much time on YouTube and too little ever following actual police cases and trials

You literally don't have to leave CE to see it. When that dude got arrested he knocked the cops camera off, headbutted a police car and then blamed the cops for it and that was a good cop.

Research from a dozen countries has shown that mandatory body cams increase aggression and assaults on police by the general public compared to non recorded cops.

And it is immensely rare for body cam footage to ever be useful in court. It makes for great YouTube videos but in reality whatever you see in the video can be evidenced separately.

IE A cop saying he was being attacked when he shot a guy in the back. The bullet wounds to the back and distance of the shot say what happened

Meanwhile guess what bad/corrupt cops will do? Turn their cameras off or claim they got damaged everytime they do anything bad.

Guess what good cops will do? Keep theirs on and then get blamed by criminals who lie.

Plus it would cost a buttload of tax payer money. The people who are quick to call for it won't raise a buck privately to pay for it.

So huge cost for no pragmatic gain and serious pragmatic loss.

don't get me wrong, body cams can be useful. They are extremely effective for training and in high chaotic situations but they're a tool for police departments to use when needed, not a toy to make YouTube fodder

There's a reason protesters demand cops not wear them during riots but insist that they do on quiet days.

Ask any criminal lawyer , prosecutor or defense attorney what they think and they will tell you the exact same thing

yes and there should be an independent agency that is in charge of the cameras so they can look into and repair any "malfunctions" and see the cause behind them

It has nothing to do with police and good luck getting Republicans to radically decrease military spending in order to create a new government body paid in taxes to perform a function with no pragmatic benefit

In addition, redesign the bodycam as a chest harness so it can't be knocked off, as well as change their general construction to be more heavy-duty.
