It's not *amazing* but it's better than a lot of people give it credit for, and definitely not bottom tier MCU.

By definition, yes it was underrated. It was getting smashed down to like below 50% on rottontomatoes/metacritic, but it's absolutely not that low.

It's a bottom 1/3rd tier MCU flick for sure, but it was still better than a <50%.

My opinion also. If you hated it, rewatch Shang Chi or something. Try out Loki or one of the shows. Not sure why you'd re-watch a movie you paid to see and walked out of..

It has a lot of interesting ideas but it tends to drag and is a bit boring

I want to finish it, buloth to have greater context for the MCU and to give it the chance for its ending to redeem it.

For what it's worth, I don't hate it so far, the dialogue is fun enough.

So from what I'm seeing it's more a problem of delivery. I mean, it fucking starts with a text crawl, and has far too many info dumps.

Yeah, the problem with the movie was how it was delivered

I DO really like the visuals in this. Heavily stylized powers but everything feels properly weighty.

They just found Ajak. The whole editing in this scene feels so bland. For a movie about a group of heroes this sure seems to have an allergy to showing then doing meaningful things together. Like, did they find Ajak then the two of them went inside while she stayed with the body?

Loved it.

The MCU on general is well made with hiccups here and there. Eternals is not.

compare it to say, guardians of the galaxy that was able to introduce a bunch of characters and ideas and titillated us with what was to come, AND it told a great story that made us care about these characters.

I can honestly not name a single person from the eternals. Not one.

I can understand why someone would dislike Eternals more than other Marvel movies. It's not my favourite Marvel movie by any stretch. But it seems to attract this bizarre level of hate like it was Thor 2 or something and it's just not. It's a solid movie.

I've seen it once, months ago, and I can name several. Sounds like you have issues paying attention or something? I dunno.

It felt to me like a decent enough, low tier Marvel movie on its own merits. The problem I had with it was that they had to do an awful lot of handwaving in order to make it "fit" within the MCU. They should've done Eternals before Infinity War so that the question of "where the fuck were you guys when Thanos snapped away half the universe" wouldn't have come up, because the answer we got was "reasons".

I agree with that, and it is wack, but for me it's the same as asking why Captain Amercia doesn't come and help Spider-Man or why The Hulk doesn't show up to help with whatever. You just have to accept a certain level of "they were busy/it's not their fight" with comic book movies.

It tried to do too much imo. It had a great premise with great ideas but not enough time dedicated to them. I think this could've either worked as a television show or if they cut down the cast by half to be more foused. With that said, it's a beautifully shot film. Probably some of the best looking MCU film and does give a lot of indie film vibes with its cinematography.

I think from a magnitude standpoint, it doesn't make sense for Cap to show up every time Spidey stops a mugger. Thanos showing up with a military force and assaulting Wakanda while lugging around a fistful of Infinity Stones isn't a blip on the radar.

Fair enough. I thought the explanation was fine since it tied into what their secret purpose even was in the first place. Is it genius? No. Was it passable? Sure.
