I dont know why Square puts tons of effort into some remasters/remakes and little effort into others

Imagine if all 6 old school FF games were built on the psp 1 and 2 engine or the DQ3 remake. Either one would look gorgeous

I don't like the looks of the PSP remakes.

The only thing I like out of them is the cleaned up monster sprites.

Everything else looks hideous and dissonant.

Yeah. They're taking extra time with 6 for some reason. It's a great game, but it feels weird to not put as much effort into the other 5.

The real crime is Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, Star Ocean and DQ 3 remakes being $40 each.

Good God the sprite-based PSP remakes of FF games looked so great. I hate how cheap and slap dash most of the other remakes look.

6 is a BIG game with a lot of different sets and setpieces. It's supposed to be out in February.

Wow. Im not getting them then. Even the current FFVI on mobile has the extra content. I really like the new espers.

I can't remember every bit of extra content from 1-6 redos over the years, but I seem to recall that the only ones that stood out to me was the extra stuff from IV, because each character got their own special section of the Lunar Ruins that applied to them. Most of the rest of them were just hard bosses and a bit of extra stuff (extra jobs in V, extra Espers in VI).

Although I never did it, I do like the idea of II with playing as the dead characters in the extra content.

You just literally described how its just completely extra content:

-More/harder bosses
-Dungeons
-Espers
-Scenarios
-Jobs
-Weapons

These are extemely inferior without them..

The post game without them is non existent as well as the base challenge of the final areas and bosses.

FFVIs final area without bonus content is sad.

Dude you can like what you like. I'm just telling you that for a story based RPG in particular, I personally feel that (apart from what I already mentioned) all this extra content is just tacked on fluff.

Can be nice to have but ultimately unnecessary.

I feel the literal extra content thats literally more gameplay is tacked on. I just want the same story thats been the same in literally every port.

Im not really complaining as i can save money not buying inferior ports while i own multiple superior versions.

I agree the bonus content was pointless fluff for the most part, but it doesn't make sense not to include it.

Wait these don't have the gear extra content? Whats even the point then. I was considering ff6 but without the extra espers I'd feel like I was playing an inferior game.

I feel like the whole point was a "pure" experience like the original, which is why FFI went back to spell slots instead of MP. That's the vibe I'm getting from the PRs anyway.

I'm not saying it's perfect, but I'm pretty sure it's what they were going for.

Again, you can like what you like, but pretending that the extra content is essential for the experience is just kinda funny.

You're not getting any more of an experience by having the Gigantuar Esper.

The extra dungeons for ff4, 5, and 6 were pretty substantial. They add about 15-20% playtime to the games plus add a lot of challenge. A lot of the extra content is fluff and feels either tacked on or completely out of place, but the dungeons were good to great.

I never liked any of the extra content in the 1-4 ports tbh. I never played 5 or 6 though.

Ive beaten these games many times so i really like the extra content but this is a real bad example for me because i love cactuars and gigantaur so much in general.

Great if youre fine without this content but ive had 2 ports with this content and i really like it so it seems like a major step back to not include it.

FFV isn't on PSP, unless you mean the PS port, which is the worst option. There also isn't a 3D remake. Are you thinking of FFIV? If so the best version is PSP in my opinion, but the 3D remake is an interesting experience.

Meh. It's cool if it's not for you. It is for me lol. I have the gba versions though so I can just play them for that content. I'm actually currently doing ff5.

I'm personally a big fan of the "back to basics" aesthetic of this re-release. I'm a big fan of those PSP games, and even liked the 3D version of FF3, but it's nice to have something more akin to the "original experience" with some quality of life feature added.

I'll take not having the extra content over the games looking and sounding as shit as the GBA versions

I'll be real.

The thing that's got me the most hyped about the PRs?

The music.

It's gorgeous. Top to bottom.

The only one I'm really interested in is ff3. I'm waiting to see if it comes to switch though

Yeah that's valid. Honestly III turns me off mechanically.

i want to agree but something felt off about some of the tracks in 4. i got up to damcyan.

i'm sorta lukewarm about the remake content too though. it feels like romhacky stuff to me.

2 has been the one i've played the most but it's also the one with the change i hate the most as well as the change i like the most: i hate the new HP growth. the game shoves you forward and bloats you. but you can also get into fynn castle now for some reason and grind sorcerers and wizards so if you want to trick out your team with the best magic in the game you can. i usually hate playing as casters.
