I still had hope after the second season. It just never came to be.

Every now and then I remember this series + the reboot and I feel like I kinda wanna rewatch it too, but then I remember its way more bad than good.

The only thing good about that show was Zach Quinto. He plays a great villain, whether it be Sylar from this show, Dr. Thredson in American Horror Story: Asylum, or Manx from NOS4R2.

In hindsight I'm not really sure what I saw in the show. The faux X-men thing was interesting in a different setting than the comicy comic bookness of X-Men themselves, but it was supremely uninteresting. Milo Verimiga or whatever his name is just an annoying actor, Save the Cheerleader Save the world was kind of cringe. Ali Larter is... just bad. I don't think I've ever seen her in anything where she was more than passable. I guess being a teenage pseudo-weeb the Hiro arch was rather cool. The Sylar thing is kind of silly, but in a way I don't dislike. It's rather entertaining. I think the best thing about the show was Mohinder, and he got hit the hardest by the writer's strike, er "writing", whenever that was.

Overall, I think it was just a weird kind of live action super power television shows not being common at the time that made it more appealing than it should have been. I kind of had the same reaction to Charmed in the 90s when there were witches and demons and spells everywhere. It's shit, but where am I gonna get something like this that isn't shit?

Turns out, I just needed to find out that Buffy existed

To be fair, it started getting crap during the back end of the first season, too.

It was probably only legit great for the first dozen or so episodes, a few bright spots aside.

ah yes, one of the countless shows that tried to emulate LOST's success and capture that mystique.

Remember how good the build up was? "Save the cheerleader. Save the world"

Great first season. Dreadful after.

Peters dad is such a bullshit character, I hated that arc

I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt for the second season due to the writers strike but the third season is dreadful. I remember the 4th (the carnival season) being better but it was a pretty low bar to clear.

They learned basically nothing for Reborn.

To me it felt like the first show that attempted to be the new Lost, so thats why it found success, audiences were pulled in, but then after Heroes we realized what was going on so others all flopped.

The first season was great because of all the mystery and world building. Once all that gets uncovered, it becomes a big mess. Sure the writer strike thing didn't help, but subsequent seasons was still a mess. Lots of wasted potential of a show.

Lol I remember it being built up so much as "the Lost killer" back when season 3 Lost started to rub people the wrong way with its ridiculousness. It was an intriguing premise, and some good beginning episodes, but after... meh

Yeah this. I stuck with the show though throughout all 4 seasons. I even ironically liked some of the last season that had T-Bag from Prison Break as the villain since the guy is a pretty great actor.

Oh wow. I forgot how bad the climax of season 1 was. Poorly shot. Poorly acted. Awful CGI. Just boring.

Their budget killed any hope for it.
