https://twitter.com/jrpsaki/status/1482800988033622019 Even if you don't get that places that infrequently see snow lack the infrastructure and understanding to handle it as well as the places that regularly do, you shouldn't be saying this as the White House press secretary at a time when the south is getting hit by snow. --- Have you tried thinking rationally? ... aren't some places built without consideration for snow? I feel like thats a big problem with snow and ice in Atlanta. Sure the drivers look like shit on it because they aren't used to it, but also the interstates and highways are built at grades and inclines and declines that aren't safe for ice or snow travel. Now, let's be real, that's stupid, but once it's done that's going to take many years to correc.t ... Copied to Clipboard!

She's right though. We should fucking know how to handle snow by now. Virginia sees snow multiple times every winter and even we don't know how to handle it and close schools for a week. --- hockeybub89 ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah for a White House Press Secretary this is kind of myopic. Maybe she could say: "Growing up in the northeast, I had never understood why stores and restaurants close when there's barely an inch of snow on the ground. Now that I'm older, I understand the necessity for ensuring proper infrastructure in locations that are experiencing weather they'd never been subject to in times past." --- CyricZ He/him ... Because even if roads aren't treated, you can drive in an inch of snow and be fine if you're cautious. This comes off as smug at best, belligerently foolish at worst. 'Lol, why aren't Texas & California the same as New England?' Maybe because they're fucking thousands of miles away? lilORANG posted... pfh1001 posted... This comes off as smug at best, belligerently foolish at worst.A lot of these states have had decades to do literally anything about it. I know global warming is making things worse, but we're not talking about Miami getting 3 feet of snow out of nowhere. Every year you can count on even the most mild snow shutting down society for days at least. --- hockeybub89 ... Copied to Clipboard!

It's not mild snow that's hitting the south right now, though. It's an ice storm that's taking out trees and power lines https://www.cbsnews.com/news/winter-storm-georgia-carolinas-south-carolina-florida-tennesse-virginia-today-2022-01-16/ Parts of North Carolina were under a winter storm warning until Monday morning. We've gotten to a point where winter storms in the south is no longer an anomaly. We can expect them to hit annually. Yet those states refuse to prepare for it. --- #FeelTheBern http://i.imgur.com/q5z4CUu.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6B9oFXh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/sy42Dlf.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!
