When you buy a book, which % of it is for the book itself and which % goes to the act of finishing the series? I reckon it's 10/90, thinking about how much the books would be devalued without an ending. His books should be reduced to a tenth of the price until he finishes it. I bet he'll start writing then.

He's right to be mad at those fans. There are a load of people that don't give a shit about him and only care about him to get more books.

Well taken in that light you aren't owed anything than what you previously paid for. You got books, you weren't being assured of any further installments just because you already committed to what was made available.

If he's off lighting cigars with the money people paid for his previous works instead of writing more then that's his prerogative.

This is true, but he's also not owed a spotlight from those customers. If he's pissed off because his legacy is circling the drain and his reputation as a fiction writer is tarnished then that's also on him. If people stop inviting him to galas and award shows or asking what he thinks about issues because nobody gives a shit about him anymore then he's more than welcome to flip off the people who made him famous as long as he doesn't start whining about being unfairly treated.

Just looked it up and realized that George is 73. 73 is REALLY old in fat guy years. I thought he was in his late 50s, early 60s.

GRRM said "Fuck you" back in 2014, and it was around that time I started to believe that he probably wouldn't finish the series.

I have never read any of the books and I do not intend to. Same reason I still haven't played Half Life 2.

It sounds like it's less "can't be finished" and more that he's lost interest in writing it, which is honestly fair. I do wish he would be honest with it, but doesn't change that he isn't obligated to write anything he doesn't want to.

Not simping, he's got his faults and is far from my favorite author(though Fever Dream was surprisingly good), I just hate entitled people who bitch about an author who won't write what they want. Mostly spillover from similar events with another author who shall remain nameless who...ok, maybe I simp a little for them.
