I think the big issue with Russia looming over Eastern Europe is that the U.S. is expected to step in while neighboring Western European countries twiddle their thumbs. Compare to Taiwan, where that would immediately flip a lightswitch that the world has been expecting for more than a half century.

Everyone's pissed because the US wants to keep an army on their doorstep, and they're doing everything they can think of to get a buffer zone. Just typical US foreign policy, doin shit that if anyone ever dared to do to us we'd collapse their economy and turn their capital into a parking lot.

Invasion of Ukraine is described as 'biggest crisis in post-Cold War relations'. On the other hand we need computer chips from China, and Australia seems to promise Taiwan they have their back it's not really US problem

I wish people (or governments in this instance) would learn that 'backing off' does not mean 'whimping out and looking like a pathetic little bitch to the entire world'. In fact, sometimes 'pushing on no matter what' does mean exactly that.

Sanctions mean shit. The U.S. said it will not get involved militarily in Ukraine but it will with Taiwan...

I legitimately cannot understand the mindset of someone who would sacrifice the entirety of humanity to protect one country. A country that would most likely get nuked to oblivion as well making the sacrifice pointless.

We've gone through this before. It's called the Cold War and neither the Soviets nor America ever directly fought each other for the exact reasons I've described.

I doubt China will ever really attack Taiwan. It's all propoganda and posturing.

They would take HEAVY losses since attacking a developed island nation is historically difficult, if not impossible. If China dropped one bomb anywhere on their territory, Taiwan would just point a dozen missiles at the 3 Gorges Dam and hit the launch button.
