Crazy! Two million dollar champs in one season of Jeopardy. Matt Amodio already surpassed Holzhauer's 32 game streak late last year. Now Schneider is on the cusp of doing the same!

Who would've thought Holzhauer could be knocked down to 4th place for longest winning streak.

Do these people all have photographic memories or what? I can barely remember what I had for breakfast, let alone all this information spanning hundreds of subject varieties.

Ken Jennings said the trick is really just to be a very curious individual, naturally. Pay attention to things.

For instance: buy a box of cereal from Walmart, check the info on the side showing Walmart is HQ'd in Bentonville, Arkansas. That's knowledge.

Pay attention to vehicles on the road. Car parked in front of you at a red light? Oh, it's a Kia Cadenza. That's knowledge.

Etc.

Holzhauers total score was always way more impressive than his streak. Its exciting to have such good champs this season though

True. He nearly matched Ken Jennings' winnings in less than half the games. Holzhauer's streak may have been broken, but his per game average I dare say will never be surpassed by another longterm champion.

You referring to Jonathan Fisher, 11 time champion who unseated Amodio?

That makes sense, but I don't understand how all of that information is retained. I saw a car six years ago and now I know it's matching this Jeopardy question?

It's just extremely impressive, but I can't help but be curious about any additional tricks, or if he just has a photographic memory type of thing.

Understandable. Some people just retain information exceedingly well. Having a genuine interest in a subject is a huge help, too. And in a way, I think the more you learn, the easier it is to remember things, since you will be able to make connections between facts that someone not as knowledgeable would not be able to make.

I like to visualize knowledge as an island. The island itself represents what you know, while the coastline symbolizes your ignorance. The more you learn, the larger the island grows; but as the island grows, the coastline (i.e., your ignorance) grows as well. So that the more you know, the more you become aware that there is still plenty out there you don't know-- and the hunger and curiosity for knowledge feeds upon itself.
