Is it true that you have to wait real life days to progress?

I remember trying it while I stayed at my cousin and it took like 1 real life day for every small progression like waiting for a building to be constructed?

You can mess with your system clock if you cant stand to wait, but otherwise yes

I genuinely cannot believe this. So people who bought and played this during lockdown that had the whole day to play.
If they didn't know about the system clock they would be locked out of content for the day after playing a couple hours?

Wow.

OK so my next question. After how many days does the town/island gets built and the game gets more open?

Yeah, it's a game you play for an hour a day collecting resources and stuff. Not something you sit down and play for 5 hours straight.

Its kind of like this:

Its not the kind of game you just rush through; in fact, some people bristle at calling it a game because the objectives are pretty much whatever you want them to be. Ive definitely had my days where I spent hours and hours building stuff, but in general its something enjoyed in small pieces.

In answer to your second question, it depends on how you define the island being built. If you mean having all the basic buildings established and tools collected, thats less than a week. If youre talking about unlocking terraforming, having 10 villagers, and designing your ideal island, that can take months depending on how ambitious you are.

Shit. Then I guess this game ain't for me anymore. I'm working like 55 hours a week now.

Before I started working again I was a full time NEET for like a year and gaming life was pretty good. Now I can't even complete 1 chapter is final fantasy 7 remake after work if I want 8 hour sleep.

I feel ya; its harder for me to find gaming time as of late too. I will say, its not as though theres nothing to do in the game when you hit a progression roadblock. When I first played ACNH, I was eager to get through all the progression ASAP, but when Id hit all the checkpoints for a given day Id just go do some fishing or bug hunting, visit friends towns, or visit mystery islands or something. I definitely felt annoyed in the beginning because I wanted to do all the things, but after 700+ hours, looking back it doesnt really faze me.

Right now I'm gone traveling through major events/ holidays. Planning to collect all the bugs and fish along the way. Once I hit the remaining days, I'm probably done with the game. I originally played this game through winter, but my interest fell off because there was nothing to catch by January.

I restarted this November, so I decided to just time travel to the content since I ran out of things to do fast.
