I saw a 48 hours episode about this case. Thought I had heard about it but apparently was thinking of a more recent case with a boy, in 2012. This happened like 20 years ago with a girl

Her parents took her back to Russia and abandoned her, claiming she was a psychopath. I don't buy their story though

Anyway she eventually was able to get back to the US, and is married now with her own family

I saw a few minutes of that show. The parents say they saw her about to drop a toddler off a balcony, IIRC. Don't know much more than that.

Everyone is still upset about the whole situation though.

In the show they eventually talked to the girl herself. She says it was a misunderstanding about trying to pick him up and take him down the stairs of the deck. She said she just gave in eventually and went along with the parent's story cause she didn't want to keep fighting them

When they went over her later life and into adulthood, I knew the parents were lying. She turned into a very nice lady who even has done international volunteer work with kids. She was never the person those parents said she was. The fact the parents refused to appear on the episode, is very telling to me

Interesting. Like I said, I saw no more than 5 minutes but it was clear everyone was traumatized by whatever happened. Even the reporter, it seemed to me.
