What else should they have done? Do it only in chronological order so you only care about Ciri for the last two episodes?

It's easy to piece together when they reveal it's out of order.

I naturally assumed it was all told chronologically with nothing seeming off to me until, I think, episode 4 where it's like, "ohhh, that was all in the pastttt".

But yeah, it was simple enough all the way through.

Pretty sure its 3. They do give clues at a couple points, but best not to worry about it too much. Yen starts way in the past, Geralt somewhat in the past (like shortly before Ciri is born), and Ciri is the present.

Theres a lot they could do.

Its not new for shows to be told in non sequential order. A simple subtitle that appeared that told you what year it was could have gone a long way.

Or edited it in such a way, structured the episodes to make the time period jumps more obvious.

It was 300x more compelling than any standard narrative tbh.
That "aha" moment was pretty enjoyable, normal stories don't have that.

It came together well by the end, but I much preferred season 2

The joke about it in Season 2 is hilarious >_>

A friend watching it with me helped, otherwise I would have had to rewatch parts (like Yennifer's actions in the present)

I watched half of the first season and lost interest.

I actually liked it.

I didnt mind. I didnt know a ton going in but just from playing the game I could tell when the timeline jumped.

Knowing or not knowing the three stories are in different points of time impacts nothing though.

All three plots are unconnected until they are, at which point it becomes easy to tell what took place when.

If anything you're supposed to think it's all happening concurrently and the "twist" is that they aren't. But you're supposed to realize it yourself.
