This telescope is a lot bigger and being sent a lot further out than Hubble. This means we can capture more objects in space with much better clarity.

The space telescope we've been using till this point (hubble) is 30 years old. All the deep space images we have are using 30 year old technology

Imagine how much technology has advanced in 30 years. We're going to have a lot of new information about the cosmos coming in relatively soon once the new telescope is fully set up and focused

Iirc, Webb will be able to see as far back as 100 million years after the Big Bang.

Probably late this year or early next year cause they need like half a year to just focus the thing, iirc

Edit: actually, just checked. They're saying this summer

The Hubble Space Telescope is about 350 miles from Earth. The James Web Telescope will be about 930,000 miles from earth, which means itll have much less stray light interference. That and its going to be something like 100x more powerful.

They said June of this year is the earliest that they could show images.

The hubble image, and all Hubble images, are actually colored from the black and white so with the webb we will be able to see the actual colors of the stuffs.

Da aliens would destroy da telescope, and make it look like a malfunction before it has a chance to detect dem coming.

The telescope is at the L2 LaGrange point, "above" the earth with the sun below, and it looks "up" from the Earth.

The aliens just have to come from the direction of the sun to be undetected by it.
