I had a topic about a week ago "Is Celeste worth $5?" in which I said I didn't really like the game after playing for about an hour.

Having played it every day since then, for at least an hour, I wanted to say that I DO like the game.

Game is an awesome platformer, I think I wasn't challenged enough in the first chapter is all. I'm still not a huge fan of the story. It takes itself very seriously, and puts so much emphasis on stress and anxiety. The art style has grown on me, I just don't get how Theo is supposed to be likeable and/or cute. Ear plugs + an abe lincoln isn't sexy. It isn't cute. It's bad. Madeline is great.

I always liked the pixel art.

The dash + jump controls are super fun once you see all the cool stuff you can do. My only control complaint comes from the diagnols being EXTREMELY difficult to recognize. I estimate 75% of my deaths! are because of this. I'm using an official Microsoft X360 controller on PC so I shouldn't have issues with this. Definitely not my controller, and it's definitely the programming. D-pad registers better but lol xbox360 dpad.

Strawberries are my jam. I'm not using a guide or anything and I have 72 strawberries and a few hundred deaths at the beginning of Chapter 5. It's the strawberries, not the story, that keep me going.

I maintain that the music is nothing to write home about, but it does have an excellent ambiance to it. It's not quite music most of the time, and tends to appear boring, but maybe it's not as boring as it seems.

It's not my personal favorite game of all time, but it's looking like a top-5 for the genre. Super Meat Boy (original Steam release) and IWBTG stand out as the best in this kind of game, but Celeste can easily be 3rd. It's much, much better than "The End is Nigh" or "Jump King" (for example).

In contrast to the anxiety-inducing story, I find this game to be quite relaxing.

I liked it and I finished it but it's too difficult for me so I didn't do any of the extra stuff.

It's kind of your standard indie fair in that regard. Pick a psychological issue and then wrap your entire story around a young girl coming to terms with it. Bonus points if it has simplified pixel graphics and a heavy emphasis on the soundtrack.

Celeste, Gris, Sea of Solitude, Lost Words, Night in the Woods, Spiritfarer, etc. It's kind of its own subgenre at this point.

I also can't get into Undertale, despite trying several times.

Just beat Chapter 6, then replayed Chapter 1 to look for secrets.

I've only found 1 cassette so far.

I had to look up a solution to 1 puzzle in Chapter 5, because I was convinced it was impossible (it was not). Double-down, now, on my no-guide dedication and haven't had to look anything else up.

I missed the part where that's my problem.
