It is the best damn ball in the game!

It's like if you had a clump of pure titanium. Most stores wouldn't even be able to do anything with it, and it's so expensive there's no point in them even trying to humor you with a price. Nah, don't sell that, use it because you'll actually get use out of it.

Its unvarified technology of dubious origins.

It's ugly.

The Pokemon world has a highly organised planned economy, that's why everything is the same price everywhere. The authoritarian government simply forbids the Master Ball from being bought or sold.

Because stores all recognize it as hot and dont want to bring down the heat on them if they buy it.

The meta reason is they wanted to discourage dumb kids from selling a useful item that they may not be able to obtain again.

Problem with that is, who doesn't know what to do with a master ball? Just buy a ball launcher, if your arms are weak n aimless, and you're all set to go katch Pokethulhu, or something.

Yet you can catch a Rattata with it. Not much different than selling tbh. If it was worth some money it'd actually be a better use for it.

Then why even allow it to be sold at all?

Because it's a "one of a kind", and therefore no value was ever assigned to it. It went from production floor to your bag. The store owner is just trying to steal it from you, that's why even if you do "sell" it, he just pockets it and uses it on a metapod.

Have you seen the Pokemon anime and how dumb people are in the universe? Or played any of the games? They throw a tutorial on how to catch Pokemon at you every single game because they assume you don't know how to do a very basic game mechanic that's self explanatory.

If some naive kid wants to sell their one and only Master Ball (assuming they don't know about the ingame lottery) for absolutely nothing, then that's entirely their choice. An odd choice, but they can still choose to make it or not regardless.

Pretty sure it was just lazy programming. From gen 3 onwards, you CAN'T sell it at all.

Heh heh. Too bad I hopped off the poke-bus during black/white era. I would've got a kick out of that wonder trade stuff. Sending the world lvl 99 Magikarps kaught in masterballs must feel amazing.

No, it's not. But at that point the person should be whooping their little brother's ass, so it really doesn't matter by then.

But some random ass-slut kid trying to secondhand it at a mart is not the same as a major corporation.

A better question is why would you spend 700 poke bucks on Super Potions (50HP) , when you can spend 300-350 bucks on Soda and Lemonade (60-80HP)?

Because clicking through that vending machine dozens of times is annoying as hell. I still do it when I can speed my game up

it's very nice to have though when you run into a shiny that knows a move like self-destruct
