My wife was apprehensive about trying it for years because she didn't care for the retro 16-bit art style as, she didn't grow up with games. Turns out, all I needed to do to encourage her was buy her a Switch, have her be disappointed with Animal Crossing's depth (before the big update not too long ago) and want for something new but somewhat similar. They also butchered the shotgun :( that said, Doom 3 was still a fun game and well worth a playthrough.
