I'd say it's more entertaining than Revolutions, and introduces a lot of cool new ideas that doesn't really get explored too much.

It couldve been worse, but shouldve been better.

If they never have a reason, Im glad I stopped watching 3/4s of the way through. No wonder theaters are dying. The audience has more power at home.

Pretty sure the reason was revealed before the 3/4 part, but here's the reason:
Despair and hope apparently makes energy production a lot higher, so the analyst remade Neo and Trinity, and made them feel like they can never have each other which produces a lot of electric.

It makes no sense at all.

We all know the real reason a new Matrix was made...

The fact that it bombed, although hilarious, solidifies it.

The idea of humans generating energy via their bioelectric processes was flawed from moment one so making them have more intense bioelectricity to make more energy isn't really as much of a mess if you're suspending on that.

I imagine that because Neo is The One, he has the ability to produce more bioelectricity than any other normal human. Trinity is a bit weird tho since she is just a normal human and Idk why the machines didn't just replicate her as a program or bot.

To... produce energy? That was the Analyst's whole deal. He was experimenting with what was ultimately a way to make more energy, but also for his own little observations on humanity. And if he could prove that was good to go, he could present that to "The Suits" and they'd be producing a lot more energy.

They told us the reason in the movie: the studio was going to make a new movie with or without the Wachowskis so they decided that they might as well take the reins to keep it from turning out even worse
