I used to use Firefox, but Brave became my preferred browser a while back. The built-in ad blocking is really nice and being able to earn a little BAT is a nice perk.

The CEO and founder of Brave is Brendan Eich. He got some flak years ago because he had donated to support California's Prop 8 back in 2008. It was a proposition for an amendment to the California constitution to ban gay marriage.

It doesn't really have anything to do with the quality of the browser, but some people still hold a grudge.

That's the complaint I usually hear anyway. I haven't really been listening for more though.

They also got caught inserting affiliate referral links into web URLs to skim referral money off of their users browsing.

They also had the practice of pocketing BAT that was meant to be donated to content creators and never paying them out, while users were still obliviously donating to them.

They also had an issue with their built in TOR where it was sending DNS requests directly to internet providers instead of them being redirected through the TOR network, completely erasing any privacy its users thought they had while browsing.

But yeah, the founder having been ousted from Mozilla for being a homophobic piece of shit doesnt do them any favors.

I've used Brave on my mobile for years now, but I never redeemed any crypto from it since KYC. Probably had a few hundred worth of BAT. Now I just use it as a regular browser. And Edge on my desktop.

If I weren't so lazy I'd download edge on my mobile since I like it that much.

It's on the default new tab page. You can get it sent to an online wallet and I think they have their own wallet now

Your total history could be somewhere in the settings.

Brave has problems. If you have too many tabs open videos doesn't load properly. Like the video will load but you'll get no audio when there is audio for it.

How many tabs?

I generally don't have more than 10 and have no issues. I'm assuming it's not your PC.

That reminds me, one feature i like is being able to play YouTube videos in another tab on mobile and browse a seperate tab or while the browser is minimized. Its better than using the YouTube app.

Though I dont know if other browsers have added that function too.

Doesn't show up on the new tab page (I use Brave on mobile).

However, this topic sparked my interest so I clicked the BAT button at the top of the browser and I've had Brave ads turned off, so I wasn't earning any. I turned them on so we'll see if that changes anything.

Have you adjusted your Brave Rewards settings?

I find that gaining BAT on mobile is slower than on the desktop. I also never see ads pop up like I do on the desktop.

I only use it on certain sites.

Take IGN for example. I don't go there much anymore but they did something that prevents normal adblockers from working properly. Brave is the only thing that works for me there.

You have to activate the Brave Rewards setting. You gain BAT by seeing their ads instead of the ads you'd usually see.

However, their ads are in the form of little, relatively discreet pop-ups in the lower right hand corner of the window that you can ignore. You get rewarded a small amount of BAT whether you click it or not.

You'd also connect your Brave browser to an Uphold wallet, which allows you to cash out your gains to your bank account when you choose to.

The intended purpose for BAT is to use it as currency for tipping verified content creators through the browser, but you can choose to just take it for yourself.

It is not my PC. As for how many tabs around 75. I don't think the browser can handle that many tabs opened and starts having problems. This is also with it being opened for days at a time as well.

OK, so the CEO and founder isn't a great person...but you think the people running Chrome (Google) or Edge (Microsoft) or other mainstream browsers are nice and noble people with no agendas? If we went by these rules and companies past and present then we wouldn't use anything...

I have an idea.

Don't have 75 fucking tabs open and wonder why performance is lacking.
