It was just completely unnecessary and added absolutely nothing to the franchise. It wasn't even a fun bit of unnecessary.

i don't think i'd go that far, but it definitely felt off. incomplete, maybe? like it was three separate stories, only really connected by the brute force of the writers, and none of them really given the attention they deserved.

are they planning on turning it into another trilogy or is it some form of one-off movie?

I personally enjoyed it and had a good time watching it.

Why are people surprised the new matrix movie sucks ??

1/3 were good in the original trilogy, why did people expect much from this one?

Oh I'm not there hasn't been a good Matrix movie in 20 years. But at least the other bad Matrix movies had a few great action set-pieces.

A series with zero good movies continues having no good movies? Shock.

Every Matrix movie has sucked.

The Matrix was good as was The Animatrix but the other movies have been bad.

It was worse than revolutions.

Yeah. Hated the whole meta talk in like the first half hour, but after that it was enjoyable. I liked that it was a more low stakes story, instead of another save the world movie.

Only had one real issue, and I'm not sure if it was an honest mistake or was supposed to be some foreshadowing. Think it was after the attack in the office and he was talking to his shrink, the shrink mentions how he made the game based on stuff he saw in real life. He says something like "you even used my cat that you hate" But he wasn't Neo's doctor until after the games were made in this version of the Matrix.

My man. The animatrix was awesome. Sad thing is a lot of people who are dumping on the originals probably werent around to see it in person back then.

a movie that nobody asked for ended up being not good. shocking...

I enjoyed it but the action felt rushed. Which makes sense because they shot the whole thing in like 4 months which is the same amount of time actors would sometimes train for a single scene for the original movie. I liked the story and ideas in it though, and to be fair some of the action scenes were still pretty sweet.

Most people do not even know about The Animatrix as it did not get much promotion that I remember.

I feel like this movie is sort of like Primer. It's just too sophisticated and deep for the general audience. No matter how many times you watch it or how many graphics you create the majority of individuals can't comprehend the most basic layers.

It was extremely OK. Like you cant be more OK than this movie.

At this point the only matrix sequel that would really get fans excited would be a full feature length version of the two-part animatrix story "The Second Renaissance."

Wasn't that always the case, though? Ignoring Smith turning into a virus, the second movie basically established the idea of rogue AIs that go into hiding to resist being wiped when they're no longer useful. The Oracle was working directly against the architect. The Matrix machines have had infighting since 2003.

I knew Lana would fail.

I liked the first Matrix.

It did a decent job of world building, considering there were two realities that the story had to present. It was also stylish and plays with some religious and free will arguments. Lawrence Fishburne and Carrie Anne Moss did great and Hugo Weaving kept stealing scenes. Im not a big fan of Keanu, but his perpetual confused look in that first movie made sense, I guess.

It was just made to bank on peoples nostalgia, like 70% of everything else that comes out today. Hollywood is full of hacks.
