If we lived in a world where there were no gendered pronouns, anyone could wear whatever they wanted, anyone could wear whatever make up or nail polish they wanted, anyone could work whatever job they wanted, no gender stereotypes, no gender roles, no gendered names, anyone can date whoever they want

would trans people still feel the need to undergo hormone therapy and genital reassignment surgery?

For people with strong body dysmorphia it's probably their only avenue towards relief.

You could make everyone the same color, shape, and size yet people would still find ways to differentiate each other

It would probably change the nature of how their dysphoria manifests if we had a societal shift that tried to act like neutrality is the default, but we'd still see masculine and feminine traits regardless of societally-enforced gender roles not existing in that society .

Yeah, no. My brain says Im a woman and was miserable in its testosterone-soaked hell. I looked at other women not just with desire, but jealousy. From a young age, I would fantasize about turning into a girl. When I got my legs waxed a few months into HRT, I couldnt stop running my hands over my legs. I occasionally get choked up over how much better I like aspects of my body, especially my budding breasts. I feel more whole, and its only been six months. Even people Im not out to frequently comment that I seem happier.

Deconstructing gender roles would help me and other trans people by removing social animus and making it broadly socially acceptable to experiment with our presentations and equip us with knowledge, therapy, and prompt medical assistance to help us be what we were born to be.

It's literally impossible to just "do away with gender" but in a hypothetical society where gender roles and expectations never existed we might see more people who would be trans (trans as a concept essentially ceases to exist as there's nothing to transition to anymore) to be happier with their birth sex.

But even then I don't think surgery would go away.

And what would that be? Apart from the biological differences.

Someone could be a trans man and literally shatter every male stereotype, so yes.

Social pressure and gender roles haven't been creating LGBTQ people throughout history. They've been actively holding them back.

Why are people so determined to prove that trans people aren't real? Maybe talk to one some time instead of posting shower thoughts.
