If you don't keep up with annual booster shots, you lose your immunity and can get infected again. This is not uncommon with a lot of viruses. That's basically what's going to happen to covid, people are going to get it multiple times and each time it should be less harmful, until it gets to a point where most people will just get the sniffles if they get covid.
