In one comic, he abandons America and becomes Nomad (author's note: Nomad means person without a country) because Nixon got elected. In another comic, he's a political strawman blindly supporting Bush era policies. In yet another comic, he's openly declaring America to be trash and beyond repair. With Superman, he's consistently good. He's pretty much always been a noble figure in mainstay comics and film adaptations.
