If you think medical school is some magical gateway door for practicing good morality then you're wrong. There are tons of corrupted doctors. Take several cases of psychologists becoming serial killers (they went to med school too). Education and its degree of difficulty has nothing to do with a person's interpersonal desires.

If I went to med school and was given a choice, becoming a gynecologist would be far off my priority list unless I had some ulterior agenda. What straight male one day would be like "hmmm I want to get paid looking at vaginas because that's what I want to do with my life" ??????

Lol no it's not. Middle of the road. Competitive is like derm, ortho, neurosurg, ENT, ophthalmology.

OB is like maybe anesthesia, gen surg, radiology tier. You're right that you can't just walk into that field, but there are many more competitive specialties.

And TC, OBGYN is predominantly women these days. Back in the day when medicine was still an overwhelmingly male-dominated field, you'll see male OBs, like the ones close to retirement age. And a handful still go into it these days, but a lot of guys these days will have underwhelming OBGYN rotations in med school because women understandably don't want male medical students observing, so there is limited exposure to the field and a lot of people don't go into it anymore.

Also watching an OBGYN operate is like watching a raccoon rummage through a trash can.

That's assault. I'm sorry, but the few exception cases that happen doesn't mean that it's standard practice to be cavalier like this. I actually work with surgeons for a living. Every surgeon I've worked with is too afraid to even touch an unrelated skin tag if it's not mentioned on the consent, let alone blatantly going against their wishes for a breast reduction.

The U.S. is faaaaar too sue-happy for docs to be cavalier like this. I honestly feel like you guys are just bringing up old wives' tales. (again, noting that this has probably happened at some point in history, but in comparison to the tens of thousands of surgeries a year, this is beyond an exception of a fraction.

I had a male gyno for a few years. One of my favorite doctors. He had like four sisters no brothers, married to a woman, and all of his kids were girls. His treatment of me and a few friends that saw him were always great and I think his background had a hand in it.

Obviously anecdotal as there will always be sexist jerks in the medical field. But yeah I had no issue with it.

You know like in carnival rides, how you have to be a certain height for safety precautions--why can't we do that with doctors? Except we're not measuring heights, we're measuring the individual doctor's capacity for sexual deviancy when put in an environment that may make them symptomatic. If you're a female doctor, you should be limited to only viewing female sexual organs if you feel you may become "turned on" by certain males (male models, actors). The same should be applied to a gay male doctor giving a prostate exam. The doctor should recuse themselves if they feel like their professionalism might become compromised because of sexual attraction.

Am currently dating a gynecologist. Asked her about male gynecologists and shes said everyone shes met in her field has been extremely professional.

when all you do is look at vaginas all day for a living, it gets old. You start looking at patients as a piece of meat, rather than genitalia that you could even be attracted to. Ob/gyn is one of the harder medical fields to go into, so creeps cant hang simply because they like looking at women.

Well yeah of course they are, but if you've actually had yours examined, sometimes you get off color comments from somebody pokin' around down there, especially in homophobic contexts.
