They had some down the supermarket yesterday, so I grabbed two small ones for the kids.

My daughter went apeshit.

Definitely going back and grabbing a few more, theyd make good rewards for good behaviour.

You don't wanna overindulge in them. They're meant to be like, birthday and Christmas presents as well as the standard "good job on your quarter report card" events.

But yeah, they're fucking adorable. I have one. Would have 2 but the first one I tried to get was in a claw machine and it got stuck on the fucking hook because of the shape of the thing around the claws proper.

Ill get them a surprise if theyre well behaved. A $6 soft toy isnt going to overindulge them.

For bigger thing we negotiate targets with them. They earn ticks for good behaviour and can redeem those for more expensive toys or games. It gives them something to work towards and reinforces good behaviour. Like, earlier this year I bought Slime Rancher for my daughter because she got up to 30 ticks. It took her a month to earn it, but my goodness was she well behaved.

If their behaviour is above and beyond, or my daughter does really well at school they also get something more substantial.

Its particularly good with my son. He can be quite challenging, but forms habits quite easily. Extrinsically motivated positive behaviour turn into routine quite quickly.

Ah, then they're a little older than I was thinking. ^^ Be sure to post pics though. I'm a sucker for the little guys.

As for why kids like them, I figure it's because the simple design promotes the imagination. And they're simple enough anyone can draw one if they wanted to. Simple huggable holdable shape.

It's like why Kirby is such a brilliantly designed character. Simplicity is the strong point because what little is there is well done and just gold.

So much cuteness, in fact, I might order some lol.

Lol I dont think shed ever do them to sell. Most of them have at least some cross-stitch on them and theyre all done by hand because she hates machines.

Fair, and valid. I'm well aware of the effort even a single patch for a quilt entails.

Still, it's totally awesome she did that for your son. May he always cherish it.

I hope so. Its one of those things he loves now because, well, trex with a chainsaw. When hes older I hope he cherishes it once he realises how much love and effort went into it.

Shes ridiculously good at craft stuff though. IIRC shes won bronze multiple times at the Easter show with her quilts and bears and has been featured in some beading magazines with her beaded jewellery.
