Thought of reuniting with your girlfriend keeping you sane. You make it off the island alive only to come home to find your girlfriend is married and she doesnt even want to see you because she thought you died.

cast away is insane. If I was Tom Hanks in that scene when he was talking to his ex girlfriends new husband my stomach would have been in my feet and I wouldve vomited. Thats mind bending.

i dunno I feel like its pretty unreasonable to expect people not to assume you died and move on with their lives if you are gone for four years. Like sure maybe wanting to see her again gave him some of the drive to escape the island (along with his quest to deliver the unopened package), but, I doubt he was like I know shell have waited for me! or anything like that. You gotta be realistic.

I dont think you understand bro. Hes on an island worrying about food and safety 24/7. Wondering if any other passengers survived. Thinking about hanging himself. He didnt have a grasp of time or reality. He didnt know it was 4 years until he was rescued. All he had was a photo of someone who called him the love of her life. He arrived back in his hometown to see shes married with kids. To some guy who did his root canal.

Cast Away is almost like a superhero film lol

I think that's the only major body transformation Tom Hanks has done. It has a lot of action & suspense too, eh? A lot of mysicism in the mix and we have a pretty exciting thing at least . One of the best survival movies of all time. Sort of the pinnacle of stranded on a deserted island themed things

Yeah, for him life became about survival. When that happens time effectively stops for you mentally.
